Cal-Glenn’s Summary Tip: Toss the 6. Key # 3.
Bets: WPS: 3 Exacta: (3/2-4-5) Trifecta: (3/2-all) Daily-Double: (3/4-5-7-9)
Our call: 3 - 2 - 5 1 BOSTONER – this El Corredor colt has traveled from coast to coast, of his seven races only 4 thirds can he boast, in a turf sprint at 6 & a half he was third best, can he handle the stretch out is really the test, trainer Mitchell is tearing up the meet at a 30% clip, and he converts well in the sprint-to-route trip, despite lack of depth of the starters and the field’s small size, no better than third in the cards in our eyes
2 GOBBLER’S KNOB – 5-yo has more races than all others combined, 8 on the board of 19’s a good sign, his 84 Beyer is best lifetime of the lot, but he can’t seem to beat our choice for top spot, distance no problem he’ll sure be a factor, don’t be surprised if he completes the exacta
3 LOWTHER STREET – of the 6 we’ll call this one mister consistent, last out was rank but by a length he just missed it, Nakatani returns to ride a half furlong shorter, the mile is what trainer Eoin has on order, if he just runs like his last race the very same way, have to believe it’s his graduation day
4 NO PUN INTENDED – first time out was on turf and not a bad effort midpack, bred more for distance this spot seems more on track, the switch to Rosario is also worth noting, at longish price we may see a surprising board toting
5 GOLDROAD – of the half dozen in here he’s got the best breeding, Mandella may try to send this guy out speeding, his one try he stalked to the stretch but then faltered, stealing one at a mile a good strategy altered, a pressured speed duel with the railbird looms, and that could well lead to both of their dooms
6 STRETCHDRIVE – they paid $270-K for this handsome stock, and today he debuts from the race starting block, the breeding not major mare not produced much, best to set back and observe his running touch
